Ever have a day, week or extended stretch where you just don't want to participate in this crazy thing we call life? Ok, maybe that is a little dramatic and easily taken the wrong way.
I more so meant, do you ever just have a stretch where there is nothing inherently wrong, life is moving along as any other day but for whatever reason, you just can't mentally check in to participate? Every minor task seems daunting; the smallest inconveniences can set you off and then at the end of the day you find yourself questioning why you got as worked up as you did.
Well, that's where I currently find myself. No major stressors in life or anything to dampen my mood and yet this week, find myself wanting to opt out of the week. It's annoying at first, your normal routine suddenly demands more energy and focus just to get through your day-to-day stuff. You can feel your patience dwindling to the point of non-existence and everything seems like a chore.
If you're like me, you'll try to talk yourself out of the little funk you are in. Try to push through the lack of energy and focus and force yourself to act like you. I get it, its frustrating enough to be aware you are in a funk and makes it worse when you notice it impact your loved ones around you. The last people you ever want to hurt, intentionally or not can feel the vibe shifting around you and you're more now than ever in a rush to snap out of the funk. Now before I get into my next part, I want to make it clear I am not a trained professional, this is just my opinion and my take on how to navigate when life feels heavy or too much.
With that said, embrace it. Accept that these spells happen. We are human after all and the beauty of being human is feeling various emotions at a given time and sometimes, for no reason at all. We forget we can only control so much and we are allowed to have a bad day, a bad week and so on. The important thing is to be open and communicate with those around you. Let them know you're down at the moment, even if there isn't an underlying cause, let them know. Communication goes a long way in life, believe me. Tell your people you're down, ask for a little grace and continue to work on yourself and doing things to help right the mental ship. You are not the only one to ever experience those sorts of feelings and the world would be a lot better place if everyone recognized that and embraced it, rather than trying to act all high and might all the time.
I definitely didn't see this somewhat serious blog coming out of me today but this is the current mood I find myself in and think it's a fitting feeling to share with the world.
Just remember, we are humans; we are allowed to feel, react, make mistakes and have emotions. How you choose to handle those emotions, communicate with your loved ones and work on yourself is up to you. Last I will leave you with, please always remember to call a trained professional if you feel your mental state is worsening more.
